Last December, powerful atmospheric rivers caused catastrophic flooding throughout the Puget Sound region and beyond, taking an insurmountable toll on local farms. We are deeply grateful to our community for helping us raise $120,000 to support farmers with flood recovery.
Our flood relief fund is no longer accepting applications
At this time, our flood relief fund is no longer accepting applications. We have received nearly 110 applications and are busy working to disburse dollars to eligible applicants in Benton, Chelan, Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, King, Kittitas, Lewis, Pacific, Pierce, Skagit, Snohomish, Thurston, Whatcom, and Yakima Counties. We are coordinating our efforts with partners to maximize our impact across the state. If you are a farmer looking for additional funds or resources, we encourage you to visit our flood relief resources page.
Access resources
With the help of local organizations and community partners, we have compiled a list of additional flood relief resources, including funding opportunities. Reach out to us at info@wafarmlandtrust.org if you have a resource or funding opportunity that you would like added to this list, and we will do so as capacity allows.
Volunteer to support farmers
We are actively working on ways to mobilize our volunteer community to support farmers impacted by flooding. Visit our flood relief volunteer opportunities page for a list of partner organizations offering ways to help farmers through volunteerism.
Stay informed about future opportunities
We know that resilience is a key part of a thriving, local food system as well as a sustainable farm operation. It’s also a critical part of how we think about our mission, to ensure we can provide the greatest impact possible and respond swiftly to the most pressing needs of our community. As we develop future opportunities to support farmers, as well as farmer stories about resilience, we will share them in our monthly newsletter, The Crop. We’d love for you to follow along.
You can still make a gift to support our mission
Though our flood relief fundraising campaign has ended, you can still make a gift to support our mission to protect farmland and support farmers across the state.
