Luckie Farms
Current Farmer:
Tara and Scott Luckie decided to become farmers in 2020 in the Snohomish River Valley after realizing how much they enjoyed the farm and ranch lifestyle. Tara’s grandfather was a wheat farmer in Eastern Washington, and Scott’s grandfather also grew up on a farm in the same region. Tara has a passion for youth education, animals, and bringing farmers and the community together to advocate for agriculture.
Property Description:
The property operated as a dairy for many years and later on, produced flowers for Pike Place Market and vegetables that were used at the Monte Cristo Hotel restaurant in Everett. Two of the barns on the property are on the historic register for Washington State, one was built in 1907 from trees on the property and the dairy barn was built in 1922. The property features a salmon-bearing stream that flows out into Ebey Slough. Tara and Scott would like to continue to restore and revitalize the wildlife habitat along the stream and in the surrounding area around the property.
Project Background:
This conservation project was funded by our partners at the Department of Ecology, Snohomish County Surface Water Management, and the Community Floodplains Solutions Program.
Farm Products:
Tara and Scott pasture-raise cattle, horses, and honey, as well as flowers in partnership with a Hmong-owned farm business. In addition, the Luckie’s host events, farm tours, and educational youth field trips on the farm and hope to continue to make the farm a community space for folks to enjoy.
