  • Future forever farmland

At the close of 2020, Washington Farmland Trust marked a critical milestone. We raised $26 million and counting in five years to protect farmland in the rapidly growing Puget Sound region. Support from more than 4,000 donors, 17 impact investors, and 35 public grants helped us protect 1,399 acres in this treasured and threatened place. In these challenging and uncertain times, we are all the more thankful for your unwavering support for local farms. Thank you!

Growing our impact on Washington’s
land and farmers

In addition to meeting our campaign goals, your support allowed us to grow our impact on Washington’s land and farmers. Your support of the Our Farms, Our Future campaign allowed us to launch a new program that matches farmers with land, grow our grant program to support sustainable practices, and unveil a new name and brand that underscores our dedication to a broader swath of land and farmers across the state. Learn more about what your support helped us accomplish over the last five years.

Local farms remain vulnerable

Development pressure has converted farmland to other uses at an alarming rate.

Land affordability has kept next generation farmers from accessing land.

Climate change and social inequities, including systemic racism, have created even more barriers for marginalized farmers.

The work to create a more just and resilient
food system is far from over

Your support has allowed us to chart a path toward our vision for the next 20 years and beyond. At the heart of that vision is an organization-wide commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as an urgent focus on the threats of climate change. By expanding our service area to more farming regions across Washington, serving more producers through our Farm to Farmer program, and showing up for communities in new ways, we aim to sustain a future for farming for generations to come.
